Submitted under the name ‘Steve Austin’, this design takes a graphical time-based approach to representing the state of your system. It looks at first a little like the old Defender arcade game.
This approach gives you an at-a-glance update of the last 24hrs across your enterprise. Maybe the time span along the bottom axis is configurable? Maybe many different types of information could be displayed? Perhaps the background could include several metrics as line graphs?
Does this kind of view work for you? Do you like the fact that it focuses more on a time span (last day) than just the current state?

I like the black background as it provides a greater contrast for the crucial information.
The timeline would also work best if configurable (last 24hrs, last week, etc.)
